Different types of buyers

Impulse buyers
These buyers are generally scrolling the internet, websites or social media on a weekend or evening looking for the “I want you” kitten. The one that jumps out at them – the one they must have! “Its exactly what I’m looking for!”
These buyers usually don’t do little – if any – research on the breeder or what health concerns and what health testing is recommended.
This buyer can be very price driven – and yours is generally too much. They like to work out how they can pay you as often they don’t have the funds. Payment plans are sometimes offered and or bargaining often with the exchange of other items. I once had someone offer me a quad bike and $500 for a kitten.
These impulse buyers are not all bad. Its these buyers that can find a kitten of yours that hasn’t been purchased yet who’s all vet work is done and she/he’s ready to go and give that baby the best home you can hope for.
The other type of buyer –
These buyers come to you with knowledge.
They know of any health concerns because they have researched the breed.
They know general characteristics of the breed because they have researched the breed.
They have found your website via word of mouth or research.
They like to look at your website as they can drool over pics and become familiar with your breeders. They will often return again and again.
They have likely looked at other breeders advertising and compare professionalism, values and future plans. Their choice is not always based on price.
These buyers are usually ready to commit – even if they have to wait for their kitten to grow.
Both of these explanations are very generalised. Both can have some of each other characteristics.
Sometimes you can have the “best” buyers – the ones who have a lot of the attributes that you like to see in a buyer but they can turn into a nightmare for a variety of reasons. It all about talking to each and every buyer to find out as much as you can about them and the home they offer.
